How to YOUKI

YOUKI13. Aug 2024
Was ist YOUKI und was passiert da? Hier gibt's einen Überblick darüber, was du am Festival machen kannst, was es zu sehen und zu erleben gibt.

Was ist YOUKI und was passiert während YOUKI?

Film competition:

Every year, filmmakers from all over the world send us films. Our team selects around 60 films from around 900 submissions. These are a maximum of 20 minutes long and were made by people under the age of 27. The selected films are shown in the competition programmes in the cinema from Wednesday to Friday. A jury (which changes every year and consists of 5 people who work "in film") awards 5 prizes among all the films. One prize is awarded by the audience through voting.

The individual film screenings are called competition programmes. As these are short films, several films are shown in a competition programme. A programme usually lasts one hour (pure film time), plus around 30 minutes of discussion with the filmmakers. You can ask questions, get involved and give feedback.

Workshops & educational programme:

In addition, there is also a programme to take part in. This changes every year, but it's always about films and media in the broadest sense. You can also take part in many programme items if you have no previous knowledge. More detailed information about the 2024 programme, prices, discounts, what is free and what you have to register for can be found on the website from October. We will also post news on Instagram (@youkiofficial). If you still have questions, you can also write to office@youki.at. We look forward to receiving mail and will be happy to respond quickly.

Side- and educational programme:

As we value being together and socialising above all, there are opportunities for this every day. From karaoke, speed dating, concerts and readings to talks. A detailed programme with starting times will also be online from October.

Festival centre:

It is not necessary to attend every day and every event of the festival. If you want to come, you can simply have a look around and start a conversation with the team members in the festival centre. We have a guest office that is very happy to welcome visitors and show you around.

Our festival centre (and also the cinema) is located in the Medien Kultur Haus at Pollheimerstraße 17, where most of the events take place. We celebrate our Nightline (22nd of November) and the award ceremony (23rd of November) in the Alter Schlachthof at Dragonerstraße 22.

If you are under the age of 18 you can get a festival pass for free. Please write to ticket@youki.at

Take part:

Anyone who wants to can be part of YOUKI. Whether as a visitor or in the team itself. As it also takes place during the week, we can get in touch with your school and ask whether it is possible to stay away for one or more days.
