YOUKI 2025 CODE OF CONDUCT (VERHALTENSKODEX)

YOUKI19. Nov 2025

AWARENESS TEAM CONTACT

If you witness or experience an unpleasant situation, feel uncomfortable, or simply want to talk to someone, please feel free to speak to a member of the YOUKI team. Alternatively, you can reach us by text message or call via the awareness hotline. (The number will be clearly displayed on site) // (+43 677 61908347). We are also available digitally at awareness@youki.at. You can also write to us anonymously. Alternatively, our anonymous contact form with pre-formulated questions will help you describe the situation.

Our AWA team (marked with fairy lights) will be on site at the evening events. It is best to always speak directly to the people with the fairy lights.

You can find more information about the Awareness Team under the heading “Awareness (AWA) at YOUKI.”

GUIDLINES OF SOCIAL INTERACTION (DAS WESENTLICHE DES VERHALTENKODEX)

ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOR

YOUKI is a place for everyone who wants to experience an inspiring festival together and takes a clear stand against discrimination and disrespectful behavior in any form. If you experience or observe discriminatory behavior in word or deed, please feel free to contact the Awareness Team, the festival management, or other team members at any time.

BE MINDFUL OF YOUR LANGUAGE

Discrimination often takes place through language. That is why we strive to use respectful language. This means using gender-neutral forms. When we talk to and about each other, we use our preferred names and pronouns. Hurtful words and discriminatory expressions have no place at YOUKI.

RESPECTFUL INTERACTION

Together, we strive for fair and mindful interaction and exchange on a personal and creative level. Treat yourself, your fellow human beings, your environment, and the art on display with respect. We want to see solidarity and goodwill among everyone. We are all responsible for this. Take care of yourself and others. Respect and communicate boundaries. If you don't understand something or are unsure, ask.

BOUNDARIES AND CONSENSUS

Respecting and communicating boundaries requires consensus, i.e., mutual agreement. To ensure that your actions are not based on assumptions, it is essential to ask for consensus. Only a yes is a yes, and a no is always a no.

Consensus is important when it comes to physical contact, for example, but also in other types of interaction.

Here are a few examples:

• Consensus can mean asking whether it is okay to talk about certain topics.

• Whether the person you are talking to is currently able to have an emotional conversation.

• Whether it is okay to sit down with other people or whether they need this space

to themselves.

So let's be mindful of each other and ask once too often rather than not enough.

CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE

Anyone who violates the Code of Conduct must expect consequences. This may include exclusion from events and the festival by the festival management or the Awareness Team. In the case of criminal acts, further measures will be taken.

AWARENESS (AWA) AT YOUKI

We will all do our best to create a pleasant atmosphere for everyone. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that every person will feel comfortable and safe at all times. Our AWA team is the first point of contact. We can offer you a listening ear, support, and problem-solving approaches. We have formed from the entire YOUKI team. We are not psychologists, social workers, or conflict resolution professionals. We are people who care deeply about this work. People with different skills and capacities. As soon as something exceeds our abilities, we will communicate this and refer you to other people or agencies. If actions require consequences, the AWA team will make a decision together with the AWA team management. If structural consequences are involved (e.g., termination of a cooperation), these will be decided together with the festival management.
