Since 1998, the International Youth Media Festival has been the place where young people, cinema, music and media come together. YOUKI Trophies by Koschka Keye

YOUKI Trophies by Koschka KeyeYOUKI

The YOUKI Festival strives to create as much space as possible for a wide variety of young artists. Each year, we invite one artist to design the six YOUKI trophies, working in a range of disciplines and styles. This format follows the artist-in-residence principle: the trophies are crafted during the festival week in the festival center at the Medienkulturhaus Wels – in full view of the public. Festival guests can watch the entire creation process of the winners’ trophies unfold. This year, the trophies will be designed by Koschka Keye, in line with our festival theme Frutiger Aero. In diesem Jahr wurden die Trophäen von Koschka Keye gestaltet, passend zu unserem Festival-Thema Frutiger Aero.

Unlike most film projects, which often take years to complete, the YOUKI festival film is created within a single week in Wels by a varying team of young filmmakers. The finished work premieres at the Gala Night, and visitors can follow its creation live throughout the festival week. This year, J. S. Schönbauer – who won last year’s Austrian Award with WHEN I WOKE UP TODAY, I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT DAY IT WAS. I GUESS IT’S SUMMER – created the festival film together with Martin Siedler and Leo Sametinger. You can watch it here on Youtube.
